INTER SCHOOL MEGA QUIZ COMPETITION 2024

Competitions play a role in motivating students to perform, excel and offer a lot more reward than just the winning prize. Keeping this in mind, the students of our school participated in an Inter-School Event Vasantotsav 2023, hosted by Delhi Public School, Durgapur on March 29, 2023. The participants were divided into three groups. Group A consisted of participants from class 2 to 4, Group B from class 5 to 7 and Group C from class 8 and 9. Rajlaxmi Tarafdar of class IXA participated in music and secured the first position in Group C category. Priyanjan Mondal of class IXC participated in Art and secured the 1st position in group C category.

Our school received an invitation to participate in an elocution competition on Vigilance. The topic was A CORRUPTION FREE INDIA. The participants delivered their prepared speeches with utmost confidence and eloquence. The venue was DICV School Durgapur. There were around 75 speakers from different participating schools. Debosmita Nath created a niche for herself by grabbing the prize for the best elocuted speech and made our school proud. She was later felicitated in the Synergy Hall of Durgapur Steel Plant. Albert Barrow Memorial All India Inter School Creative Writing invited our school to participate in Creative Writing competition and unleash their creative thoughts. Sayan Biswas of class 10 was selected among the shortlisted students were shortlisted he was escorted to Kolkata to reach the venue. The venue was Delhi Public School, New Town Kolkata and the date was 14th of July,2023. It was a very enriching experience and the students look forward to more such participation.

Our school stepped into a glorious history as for the first time the students travelled to Kolkata to participate in the Frank Anthony Memorial Inter School Debate competition. The aim of organizing the debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions.The participants were Ishani Banerjee and Aritro Ghosh Moullick from Class IX. The venue was Welland Gouldsmith School Kolkata.

The students of our School once again proudly showcased their academic prowess at the Inter ICSE School Academic Contest hosted by St. Xavier’s School, Durgapur on their 61st year of celebration of Academic Excellence under the banner IGNITE 2023 held on 2nd and 3rd December 2023. This academic contest featured a series of intellectually stimulating activities that included debate, elocution, story writing, creative writing, spelling and recitation. Throughout the event our students exhibited exemplary performance and sportsmanship participating in all the competitions with fervour and dedication. Among the standout achievements of our students was the remarkable performance of Riddhima Karmakar of Class-V who received a prestigious prize for her outstanding recitation skill.

On 23rd January 2024, Durgapur Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar Public School (DICV) Organised Inter-school Science Model competition to commemorate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. 17 schools including our school were invited to participate in the competition. The event provided a platform for students to present their projects and working models, highlighting their understanding of various scientific concepts.Our students made a working model of “Sustainable Futuristic Home”. Solar panels, Roof top Rain water harvesting, Bio-gas production from domestic wastes, Wind-mill and Organic farming were showcased in this home. Students ingeniously explained the importance of building such home in future to save energy, water, air and land from further degradation.

The Safe Drive, Safe Life program is a public awareness campaign launched by the West Bengal government in 2016 to curb accidents and road fatalities. Students of class VIII participated “Safe Drive Save Life programme on 18th January ,2024 at Durgapur. The programme involved varies activities and events such as workshops, school/college education programme, essay and painting competition, props shows and drama, awareness raising activities and campaigns, blood donation camps. The program benefitted the students by enhancing their knowledge and skills on road safety issues and solutions, encouraging them to participate actively in the campaign and its activities and empowering them to become agents of change in their communities and society.

An Intra-School Sub-Divisional Mega Quiz Competition was held on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day on 15th of August, 2023 in Benachity organised by Dvita Eye Care. There were more than 40 schools who participated in the competition. Out of such vast competitors, our school bagged the second prize. Our school proved its excellence in the field of extra-curricular activities. Our students also contributed to the glory and prestige of the school by participating in another quiz competition organised by Durgapur Sub-Traffic Guard. In this quiz too, our students walked off with the second prize which is indeed a matter of pride and gratification for the school.

Our school organised the CPS Olympiads (Level – I) in the month of October, 2023. 506 students (from Classes I to X) participated in this event. The examinations were conducted in three subjects – English, Mathematics and Science. It was a grand success as our students won several medals. Some of our students also secured excellent State Ranks in the three subjects.

Students of classes VI to VIII of our school participated in a science conference - Meghnad Saha, Marie Curie Science conference – organized by Durgapur ADDA Young Association on 22nd November 2023at Netaji Bhawan. The aim of the conference was to explain the Nobel Prize winning research work in Physics, Chemistry and Physiology for the year 2023, to the school students in simple language. Many schools, both Government and Non-Government, participated in the conference. Each presentation was followed by a Question and Answer session. The enthusiasm showed by the students in asking questions was indicative of the curiosity generated in their minds.

On April 2023 the cricket team our School participated in a cricket tournament (U–15) organized by CAB. For the 1st time in this tournament from Durgapur itself .Our School was the one and only school who had participated in this prestigious tournament. 15 boys had participated in this tournament. The tournament was played the league system. The event took place at Burdwan university ground.

The game football is equal to madness. Everyone has an interest for playing football. Last year organized by St. Micheal’s School from 7th August–12th August Interschool tournament was being held on. The theme for the tournament was “GO FOR GOALS”. For boys eight schools had participated and for girls six schools had participated. The players of our School were amazing and showed their best effort during the match. This was a biggest achievement and an honour for our school.

In the month of February 2024 an Athletic meet was organized by Durgapur Sub–Division at Sahid Bhagat Singh Stadium for 3 days continuous. Other than OUR SCHOOL, different clubs of Durgapur had also participated in this tournament. Our school from Durgapur is the one and only school who had been participating for the last 6 years. This is the most honourable and memorable achievement our school has done so far. Near about 16 students had participated from our school.

Organized by Durgapur Sub–Division, on this year i.e. 2024 in the month February junior students our School for the 1st time had participated in this auspicious tournament. Different clubs of Durgapur had also participated in this tournament. Among the schools of Durgapur, our school was the only school to participate in this tournament. The tournament was played by the league system. Our boys showed their best in the match but unfortunately couldn’t win. We hope that next time we will get the best results.

On 12th October 2023 organized by Guru Teg Bahadur School, a volleyball tournament was planned out by them. Other than Durgapur, schools from Asansol, Ukra, Raniganj, and Panagarh of both I.C.S.E. and C.B.S.E. boards participated in this auspicious tournament. For the first time ever, our school had participated in this tournament. Within very less time our team practiced with dedication and participated in this tournament.

On 1sr April 2024 to 3rd April 2024 the cricket team of St. Peter’s School participated in a cricket tournament (U–15) organized by CAB. 16 boys had participated in this tournament. The tournament was played the league system. The event took place at Burdwan university ground. Every single boy tried their best to show their talent on the ground. Among those 16 boys Ayan Pal ,Jeetenshu Roywere quite noticeable during the match. Currently, Ayan Pal is playing for the West Bengal’s cricket team (U–15). Through the medium of playing let the name of the school shine.

St Peter's kho kho team took part in CISCE KHO KHO TOURNAMENT held in Midnapore and we are proud to announce that we reached the semi final. Congratulations to the team and wishing them all the best for their final.

Inter–school ICSE Athletics tournament (WB & NE) was held from 9th–12th July in SAI (Yuba Bharati Kriragan) Saltlake Kolkata. All over from WB & NE 1300 students had participated in this prestigious tournament. From our school 25 students had taken part in this tournament for various events. For boys overall their performance was good. Some of the boys were really excellent. On the other hand, the overall performance of the girls was really well. Our girl team had ranked 4th in 4X100 mt relay race. More than 50 schools had participated in this tournament. And in every event, there was around 35– 50 participants. But some of our students had achieved really good ranks. It is a proud moment and a big achievement of our school.

CISCE U- 19 , Boys Regional Football tournament 2024 which was held on 12th and 13th July 2024 in St. Thomas' Boys' School, Kolkata. St Peter's School participated for the 1st time in this prestigious tournament. 49 schools participate in this tournament. Our school played very well and reached the quarter final. In the quarter final they lost the game in Tie- breaker. It is a proud moment and a big achievement for our school.

Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy was an Indian physician, educationist and a statesman who served as a Chief Minister of West Bengal. Under his leadership, the number of health centres in the state increased significantly. He spearheaded the expansion of medical and public health services. On the birth and death anniversary of such an imminent leader, a Mega Quiz Competition was held in Srijoni auditorium in Durgapur and this grand event was organised by Durgapur Club Sammanay. There were almost 78 teams which participated for this mega event held on 01/7/24 and there were nearly 2000 students present for this event. On the special day, there were schools which participated from all over the South Bengal districts . Our school participated too. However, it is said that, WINNING AND LOSING IS JUST A PART OF THE RACE. THE REAL ESSENCE LIES IN PARTICIPATION. Our children acknowledged the information that they collected from the quiz competition. Although they could not make up to the finals yet they PARTICIPATED whole heartedly. As A.P.J Abdul Kalam said, “If you fail, never give up, as FAIL means First Attempt In Learning. Failure will never overtake if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” All children are talented, they just needs to be cherished and guided well. Our school always supports the children and wishes to take out the best in them. We hope that our children continue to nourish their talents and make us and themselves proud.

Bal education trust is a distinguished non_ profit organisation dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering holistic development. The national debate competition is a flagship event organised by the trust aimed to provide a platform for students and develop essential skills like critical thinking, public speaking and team work. St.Peter's school under the able guidance of the principal Sir John Paramata took up the initiative to project to the world the talent of the able students of St.Peter's . The students from class IX and class X participated with zeal and vigour. The participants were Eshan Dey and Saheli Debnath from class IX and Ishaani Banerjee from class X. Both Eshan and Ishaani qualified in the district level and entered the state level of debating. The students from all over India participated with great enthusiasm and fervour. .The first topic was THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL DIPLOMACY ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS. Eshan and Ishaani invested hours , training themselves for the state level debate competition . The efforts of both was well lauded by the officiating personnel. Ishaani Banerjee then qualified for the National level of debate. The topic for the final round was THE DOCTRINE OF PERSEVERANCE POSITS THAT SUSTAINED EFFORT IS THE CORNERSTONE OF GENUINE ACHIEVEMENT. Ishaani Banerjee with her arduous efforts did a very commendable job and secured for herself a position in the first ten of the country. Her merit and outstanding performance brought both honour and accolades to the school. Your achievement glorified the horizon of St.Peter:s.... Kudos Ishaani!!!!

CISCE Regional Boys' U-19 Handball tournament which was held on 20th and 21st June at Bandel organised by Dunlop English Medium school. First time Boys handball team participated in the prestigious tournament and reached the quarter final. It is a great achievement for our school.
